Support for Parents Navigating Pregnancy, Parenting, and Complex Systems

ROOTS Ohio provides trauma-informed screening, referrals, and care coordination for parents and caregivers across Ohio. We help connect individuals to trusted community partners for pregnancy, parenting, mental health, and family support.

What ROOTS Ohio Does

ROOTS Ohio is a parenting and pregnancy support program designed to help individuals and families connect to appropriate services.
We provide:

Screening and intake support

Trauma-informed referral coordination

Warm handoffs to trusted community partners

Follow-up to support successful service connection

ROOTS Ohio provides screening, referral, and care coordination services only. Treatment services are provided by partner organizations through separate enrollment processes.

All referrals are handled with consent and confidentiality.

Who This Program Is For

ROOTS Ohio serves parents and caregivers who are pregnant or parenting infants and navigating complex systems.

Our focus includes:

  • Justice-impacted parents, including individuals who are incarcerated, reentering, or involved with probation or parole

  • Families involved with child welfare, courts, or behavioral health systems

  • Fathers and male caregivers who are often excluded from parenting spaces

  • Kinship and extended caregivers, including grandparents

  • Young and first-time parents navigating multiple systems at once

Pregnancy, maternal mental health, and peer-based support

Ongoing Partner-Led Support

ROOTS Ohio collaborates with partner organizations offering ongoing support opportunities, hosts a monthly virtual series focused on parenting, pregnancy, and family well-being for system-impacted families.

Topics include:

  • Healthy relationships while navigating systems

  • Pregnancy, identity, and reentry

  • Infant bonding and attachment

  • Supporting mothers navigating system pressure

  • Supporting fathers and male caregivers

  • Virtual and in-person pregnancy and parenting support groups

  • Community education events and baby showers

  • Parenting education, safety trainings, and peer support sessions
